What is Reflexology?
Reflexology is a Complementary Therapy which works on the feet or hands enabling the body to heal itself. Following illness, stress, injury the body is in a state of "imbalance" and vital energy pathways are blocked, preventing the body from functioning effectively. Reflexology can be used to restore and maintain the body's natural equilibrium, or balance, and therefore encourage healing. The feet are a mirror of the body and therefore by working the feet, you can influence and elevate the whole body.
A Reflexologist uses there hands to apply pressure to the feet. For each person the application and the effect of the therapy is unique. The sensitive and trained hands of the Reflexologist can detect any imbalances or small deposits in reflexpoints in the feet and by working these points blockages can be released and restore the free flowing energy to the whole body.
Circulation and elimination is improved and tensions in the body are eased. This is a very gentle therapy which encourages the body to start the healing process and heal itself.
Reflexology still has the same underlining concepts which link the ancient with the modern. Therefore reflexology today still works with long established theory that there are energy pathways or channels that run through the body.
In the practice of reflexology, there are also reflex points and areas on the feet and hands that correspond to all the major organs, glands and body parts. Working on these points can release blockages and restore the free flow of energy to the whole body.

What Happens When I Have a Treatment?
On your first treatment I take a full and confidential consultation. This enables be to find out about your medical history, any medication you may be taking, medical conditiond, general health, lifestyle etc. I will then begin to work on your feet, or hands if neccessary, noting any imbalances in reflex areas. There may be discomfort in some reflex points, however this is usually very breif and can be an indication of congestion or imbalance in a corresponding part of the body. I practice a very gentle form of reflexology and therefore you should find the treatment very pleasant and soothing. The reflexology treatment itself lasts approximatley 1 hour. A course of treatments varie in length depending on your body's needs and responses to treatment.
I bring my portable reflexology chair which I situate in a downstairs room of your house. I only need access to your feet therefore shoes and socks need only be removed.
What Happens After the Treatment?
After the first treatment of two, your body can respond in different ways. For example you may have a feeling of well-being, greater energy, and relaxation or you may feel lethargic, nauseous, sleepy or tearful, but this is usually short lived. It is however, vital information for me as a Reflexologist, as it shows how your body is responding to treatment. An information sheet fully explaining any possible responces to treatment is given at the end of the first treatment. How Much Will a Reflexology Treatment Cost Me?
Treatment one consists of consultation and treatment, and lasts an hour and a half and costs £25.00.Any treatment after that lasts an hour and costs £20.00.
